The Perfect Stoner Card Game

The Perfect Stoner Card Game

Many a times I’ve googled “High Games/Games to Play High/Card Games for Smoking” or something along those lines, for two or more people, and can never really find what I’m searching for.

Last week my boyfriend and I got sick of scouring the internet and decided to make one up ourselves.

Today I will share this game with you all, in hopes of alleviating the long search for you... unless of course it took you ages to find this post while looking for games haha in which case... STOP here!! I’ve got the game for you!
It’s appropriately named ‘Highs and Lows’

Highs and Lows

Materials

For this game all you need is;

  • deck of cards – with one joker in the deck
  • some herb
  • a bong
  • a joint
  • a glass of water for each player

Rules

The aim of the game is to get rid of all of your cards.

This game is great for 2-5 players

Youngest player goes first

It is important to note that card suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs & Spades) do matter in this game, but we’ll get into that a little later.

We separate the numbers into two categories, you guessed it - highs and lows

7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K & Ace are the highs

Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 are the lows

So yes, 7 is both high and low, as is Ace.

The card that you flip over from the deck at the beginning of the game will decide if the round is a low or a high

;If you flip over a 7 or an Ace, the person who flipped the card over will decide at the start of the round if it’s a high or a low round

Once you have figured out/decided if its a low or high round, you then take turns placing cards, one at a time on the throw out pile in either ascending or descending order

Now you may be wondering, how can I get rid of my higher numbers if the deck is already lower than them? (or alternatively how can I get rid of my lower numbers if the deck is already higher than them?) Well, you CAN place a larger number on a smaller number (or alternatively place a smaller number on a larger number) however, they must be of the same suit as the card you are placing on top of.

Low Round

(if you flip over an Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7)

High Round

(if you flip over a 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K or Ace)

Bummer, you’re playing for a sip of water… mehhhh

Hell yeah, you’re playing for a bong rip yewww

If you’re playing a low round you have to place a card that is of equal or lower value on the pile

If you’re playing a high round you have to place a card that is of equal or higher value on the pile

In a low round the card pile will be ascending (eg. If a 6 of hearts is on the pile you can place a 6 of any suit, a 7 or higher of any suit, or alternatively you can place a card lower than a 6 IF it is also a heart)

In a high round the card pile will be descending (eg. If a 8 of spades is on the pile you can place a 8 of any suit, a 7 or lower of any suit, or alternatively you can place a card higher than a 8 IF it is also a spade)

Layout

Each player is dealt out 10 cards and one card will be turned over from the remaining cards in the deck to determine if the round is a low or high round.

Winners Reward/Punishment

If it’s a high round then rip that bong legend!!! If it’s a low round then r.i.p. enjoy your sip of water I guess.

The person who gets rid of all of their cards is the winner of the round, unless of course more than one player/s can get rid of all of their cards.

So, there can be multiple winners per round.

It doesn’t really matter who goes first in this game, although you might think it is an advantage to go first so that you are more likely to get rid of your cards faster, if your opponents are also able to finish out the round with no cards left, they also get the reward, be it a cone pull or a sip of H2O.

This game lasts as long as you’d like, alternatively you can write down the scores and play to a certain number of wins to determine the all time winner... perhaps they get a blunt? haha

Joker Card

The only way to turn around a water round is with a joker!

If you are lucky enough to be dealt a joker card, make sure you hold onto that bad boy until the end of the round, where you can use it as your last card to win the round! and the crowd ROARS!!!!! Light that baby up and either share or bogart that bad boy, up to you, winner.

It is also worth noting, if you finish a high round on a joker.. you get a bong rip + a joint!

Let’s play!

Deal out 10 cards each

Flip a card over from the remaining cards

Determine if the round is a low or high
(an easy way to remember the order in which you either ascend or descend the cards, is to figure out which way has the most numbers, therefore for example, if a 3 is turned over, there are only 2 numbers lower than it but there are 11 numbers higher so you will be ascending for this round)

Low = Accending

High = Decending

7’s & Ace’s you choose! (As if you wouldn’t choose a high round and go for a bong though, however, if you’ve been playing for a while and would rather a little water break, all power to ya)

Enjoy! Get lit! Share this game with your stoner friends!

Peace,
Milo.
